F. Algueira, located in Spain’s Ribeira Sacra region, is a jewel of viticulture, whose origins date back to Roman times and were perpetuated by monks in the Middle Ages. Revitalized by Fernando González in 1979, Algueira has dedicated itself to reviving abandoned terraces and showcasing native grape varieties such as Brancellao, Merenzao, Caíño or Sousón, planted next to the more predominant Mencía and Godello.
Cultivated on steep slopes of up to 60°, these vines benefit from a diversity of microclimates and soils, mainly slate, which give the wines a remarkable minerality and complexity. The estate, which favors manual and organic methods, produces wines that embody the essence of the Ribeira Sacra, revealing the richness and diversity of this unique terroir.
With an approach that combines tradition and innovation, F. Algueira has not only revitalized a historic winegrowing landscape, but also solidified its reputation as a producer of exceptional Spanish wines, revered both nationally and internationally.
