The Domaine de la Chapelle, run by the Frey family since 2006, is a wine-growing jewel located on the iconic hill of the Hermitage. This estate illustrates the perfect meeting between centuries-old heritage and the quest for excellence, offering wines of unparalleled finesse and complexity.

With vines aged 40 to 100 years old nestled on exceptional terroirs such as Bessards and Méal, the estate produces the prestigious La Chapelle cuvée, legend of the Hermitage. Committed to sustainable viticulture, certified in organic farming and practicing biodynamics since 2018, the Domaine de la Chapelle combines respect for nature and innovation, under the visionary direction of Caroline Frey.

Each wine is an ode to its terroir, revealing the quintessence of Syrah, Roussanne and Marsanne.

Key Selling Points

  • Heritage of the Chapel: located on the emblematic hill of the Hermitage, La Chapelle takes its name from a real chapel, retreat place of the Knight of Sterimberg in the XIIIth century.
  • Legendary terroir: the vines of Bessards and Méal enjoy a unique terroir where steep slopes offer an ideal microclimate for Syrah.
  • Artisanal management: cultivation on extreme slopes requires intensive manual work, the vines are not in rows as usual.
  • Symbol of the Syrah: La Chapelle represents the ultimate expression of the Syrah thanks to a meticulous assembly of the different plots spreading the domain, and thanks to the mass selection carried out in the Frey Family’s Syrah conservatory.
