Aussières is a village whose roots go back to the Romans. From antiquity, to the Middle Ages, to the old wine-growing village of the 1960s, it’s the history of the place that has inspired Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite to continue this beautiful story.

In the heart of the Languedoc region, in the middle of the Fontfroide massif, Aussières benefits from a unique microclimate characterized by cooler air and marked temperature variations between day and night. It’s a unique terroir where grapes ripen more slowly, preserving the freshness and garrigue aromas characteristic of our wines.

Aussières covers more than 550 hectares in a single block, two-thirds of which is a wild massif, shaped by garrigue and forest, and only one-third of which is devoted to vines, grown organically. Among the Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Grenache vines grow olive, almond and other trees.

Château d’Aussières is more than a vineyard; it’s a living ecosystem where biodiversity and respect for the soil enrich every bottle, reflecting the soul of a rich terroir and the vision of a sustainable future. It’s a wine experience that recounts the union of tradition and avant-garde, in the heart of the Corbières.

Key Selling Points

  • Unique terroir : vineyard located in the massif eu Fontfroide (70 to 120m), a semi-mountainous cirque with 3 streams and 7 different soils. The site is cooler than neighboring vineyards, with lower temperatures, a northerly wind and a north-facing vineyard with a later phenology and slower ripening, all of which contribute to the freshness of the wines.
  • Respect for the environment : Domaine d’Aussières practises sustainable viticulture, respecting the environment and preserving biodiversity to ensure the quality of the grapes. 180 ha of vines, 160 ha classified Natura 2000 , 60 hectares of garrigue, 6 ha in a refuge zone in partnership with the LPO. The vineyard has eliminated non-organic products since 2000 and was certified organic in 2022, and practices mixed farming (oil, honey, sheep grazing…).
  • Heritage and innovation : combining the historic heritage of Corbières with the viticultural and oenological innovation brought about by the Rothschilds, masters in the art of blending and ageing, creating fine, balanced wines.
